Former KENS 5 Anchorwoman Karen Grace Joins SA Monthly Magazine!

After 20 years as a KENS 5 news anchor, Karen Grace joins SA Monthly Magazine as our Health & Wellness Senior Editor. Grace obtained her master's degree from Northwestern University and is an Executive Director of ID Life.

The transition to a new life, away from the news, has enabled Karen to spend her time promoting fitness and well-being. She is often seen working out with SA Monthly Magazine Fitness Editor Sherri Braxton, currently on the cover of our most recent issue. Needless to say, Grace is passionate about helping others transform their health in order for them to live more productively. Grace believes that our bodies can be improved but never replaced. According to Grace, it is a long-term investment where results do not show quickly but, it will continue to produce rewards through persistence. Moreover, she has 14 years of medical reporting while serving as an anchorwoman. Grace is aware that our physical well-being is important but, she believes that after an active day, helping others is essential to develop a connection with a higher being. Thereof, she serves on the board of Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Despite her busy schedule, Karen finds other opportunities to use her talents to give back to our community. She is an adjunct professor at two local private universities: Our Lady of the Lake University and Incarnate Word. With unrelenting drive, Karen has ran locally and nationally fighting cancer as Woman of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Aware that she can make a difference in people's lives, she has recently partnered with the construction company Texas Radiant Barrier that distributes energy efficient siding, saving her residential and customers on their utility costs.

With all her efforts and dedication to improving our community and the lives of others, let us ensue a meaningful life, one where we begin a new search of wholeness. Every story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. We cannot change the beginning nor escape the end. We can only affect what happens in the middle. To that extent, let us cherish existence by nourishing our present moment with growth; engaging in emotional experiences, and turning our sorrow into beauty.
