Grammy Artist "T.I." Empowers SA at ICONTALKS

As snow fell on the steps of the Tobin Center for the Arts downtown, Grammy Winning Artist Tip “TI” Harris was inside giving a white-hot musical performance and message of inspiration, motivation and empowerment to people of San Antonio.

It was a great evening involving a marble of San Antonio—Sam Houston marching band, the Mayor of San Antonio and a beautiful melody of citizens of the Alamo City.

“We were taken back by the diversity and caliber of patrons that joined us at Icon Talks San Antonio,” said John Hartsfield, co-founder of Icon Talks. “Tip was very honored to be dubbed an honorary citizen of San Antonio and an Emissary by the Mayor of San Antonio.”

Tip “TI” Harris was also awarded two additional prestigious awards from Icon Talks, Visionary Awardee and the Call to Action Award from National Bankers Association which represents all the Black owned banks in the country.

Additional Visionary Awardees included Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Partner of Spurs Sports and Entertainment, Cassandra Carr.

“I am just so honored to accept this award,” The Mayor humbly remarked. “I don’t know how I was selected, but I am truly humbled,” he continued.

Texas based rapper and philanthropist, Trae Tha Truth, was also awarded a very distinguished Humanitarian Award by Icon Talks. The award addressed his nonprofit’s efforts, Angel By Nature, and Relief Gang program which provided relief actions for Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston, Texas. Icon Talks donated $6,500 to Angel By Nature in support of their efforts.

“TI” shared with the crowd a candid testimony of his story and service to his community. “He has an incredible story and the audience was just captivated by him,” says co-founder of Icon Talks John Burns.

“TI” closed out the evening with a set of his greatest hits including “Rubber Band Man”, “24’s” and “Whatever You Like.”
